Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common customer questions.

Getting Started

How do I get started with City Paws?

Create an online account, add your dog’s information, and upload current vaccination records. Once your profile is reviewed, you can request daycare, boarding, grooming, training, and other services.

What is the Initial Assessment?

An Initial Assessment is completed on-site by one of our trained dog handlers before a new dog joins our Dog Park. Our team will discuss your dog’s history and health, then observe how your dog responds away from their parent and around other dogs.

This helps us determine whether City Paws is the right fit for your dog in an open play environment. The process takes about 4 hours.

Are there vaccination requirements?

Yes. For the safety of all dogs in our care, each dog must have current Rabies, DHPP/Distemper, and Bordetella vaccination records.

You can upload records to your online profile or email them to info@citypawspetclub.com.

What is your spayed/neutered policy?

We ask that all males over the age of one be neutered. Females must be spayed by their first heat to participate in daycare or group play.

Hours, Arrival & Checkout

What are your lobby hours?

Lobby hours are Monday–Friday from 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Our staff is still present and caring for pets after lobby hours.

What time should my dog arrive for boarding?

For a smooth transition and calm evening, we ask that boarding drop-offs happen by 6:00 PM on weekdays and 4:00 PM on weekends.

Late arrivals can be accommodated, but a $25 late drop-off fee may apply.

What is checkout time?

Checkout is at 1:00 PM. Late checkout is available for $29. We kindly ask that all dogs are picked up by close of business.

Boarding & Lodging

How much is the hotel deposit for lodging reservations?

Overnight lodging reservations require a 50% boarding deposit. The deposit is fully refundable if canceled 14 days or more before the start of the reservation.

Cancellations inside the 14-day window forfeit the deposit. Holiday reservation deposits are non-refundable.

What should I bring for lodging?

You may bring food, one or two toys, leash, collar, and other personal items. Please keep in mind dogs may chew or mark items differently while away from home, and City Paws is not responsible for damage to personal belongings.

What are your feeding guidelines?

Please provide your dog’s regular food to keep their stay consistent and comfortable. Meals should be pre-portioned into individual containers or bags, clearly labeled with your dog’s name and feeding instructions.

If food is brought in a single bulk bag, our team can portion it as an add-on service. If food is not provided, house food is available for $5 per day.

What about medications and special diets?

We gladly administer oral medications at no additional charge. If your dog has more extensive medical needs, they may need to participate in our Special Care Program for an additional $20 per day.

Safety, Comfort & Special Care

Do you offer webcams?

Yes. We offer pup webcams so you can watch your dog play from a computer or mobile phone. If your dog is lodging in one of our luxury suites, you will also have access to that webcam.

How do you care for older dogs?

Older dogs may need a quieter pace, gentle handling, modified playtime, rest breaks, and frequent wellness checks. Day Stays can also be a good option for senior dogs who benefit from a calmer, lower-stress environment.

What is the Special Care Program?

Special Care is designed for pets needing extra medical attention, certain breeds that cannot be admitted to regular kennel programs, intact males, and in-heat females. Special Care is an additional $20 per day and includes one-on-one attention, playtime, and potty breaks.

What happens if there is an injury or accident?

We take every precaution to keep pets safe, but dogs are animals and accidents can happen. If something occurs, you will be notified immediately and your pet will be taken to the nearest emergency vet unless you specify otherwise.

Discounts

What discounts are available?

We offer a 10% discount for past and present military members. Dogs from the same family sharing the same room qualify for a 10% discount on the second dog.

Service Policies

Please review before your dog’s visit.

These policies help our team plan staffing, manage capacity, care for every dog properly, and serve pet parents efficiently.

📅

No Show & Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received 48 hours prior to the day of your reservation.

If we do not receive cancellation notice, you will forfeit that day from your package or membership. If you do not have a package or membership, you will be charged the daily rate for that day.

You may cancel by email, phone at 612-324-PAWS, or through the online reservation portal.

Confirmed Appointments

Members take priority in our preschool program.

If you are not on the schedule with a prior confirmed appointment, we may not be able to take your dog that day. Please make sure your appointment is confirmed before dropping off.

📸

Daily Updates & Photos

We actively post highlights, photos, and stories on Instagram so you can see your dog in action throughout the day.

Individual report cards are available as an optional add-on to daycare or lodging stays.

🥣

Packed Food

If your pup eats lunch or dinner with us, please pack food in Ziploc bags labeled with your dog’s name and whether the food is for lunch or dinner.

Please avoid Tupperware, glass, or other containers. Ziploc bags work best for the safety of dogs and staff.

🐕

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

To streamline preschool drop-off and pickup, we ask that you take your dog’s leash and collar with you.

When dropping off, please remove clothing, boots, and harnesses from your dog before check-in.

🏨

Lodging Drop-Off & Early Pick-Up

If you fail to drop off your dog on the requested boarding day without prior notification, you will be charged for the reserved day or days.

During holiday weeks or weekends, if a pet parent fails to drop off their dog on the scheduled reserved day, the reservation may be charged regardless of prior notification.

If a pet parent picks up early, the scheduled reservation must still be paid in full.

🚗

Curbside Drop-Off & Pick-Up

We offer convenient curbside drop-off and pick-up for clients who may need additional assistance.

When you arrive, call 612-324-7297 and provide your vehicle’s make, model, and color. A staff member will come out to meet you.

Membership Cancellations

All membership cancellations must be communicated by email.

Once notice has been received, the membership will cancel after the following billing cycle.
